SurveyQuest has been working closely with NSW Department of Commerce for six years maintaining a dedicated Surveys and Benchmarking platform, that has been continuously used for many government projects.

This platform has grown from a single organisation doing an annual data collection to a number of Government agencies using the platform for various surveys, interstate benchmarking and reporting.

Government data collections are often very complex to run. Automation means that the collection can be completed online and the process is controlled by the workflow. Process routing is controlled and managed through a sophisticated workflow engine and access is restricted to registered stakeholders with allocated user names and passwords.

The data collections can run in many different agencies in parallel. Each instance of the questionnaire has its own lifecycle, own workflow routing and own stakeholders.
Workflow provides users with different roles such as data entry, approver, administrator and a management role. The workflow can run within a client's organisation or externally.

For example, if the survey is conducted by one agency but the data is collected by respondents that belong to other agencies, the workflow governs the collection in all of them.
Each of the participating agencies has its own approval loop before the survey is submitted and visible to the coordinating agency.
Participants use their user names and passwords and come into the system as often as needed to progress their work, provided the workflow has opened up the survey for processing.

Users can only see the functions and maintain data they are allowed to access. Various data collection steps are audited and the coordinator can check the status across all active questionnaires in real time.
